Aside from a few aesthetic changes, such as a smoothed pop-up flash casing, rounded edges, Leica branding and the iconic red dot, the V-Lux 5 is identical in specs to the FZ1000 II. It features the same Vario-Elmarit 24-400mm (equivalent) F2.8-4 ASPH lens in front of a 20-megapixel 1"-type CMOS sensor. - The 2.36MP OLED EVF is identical to the V-Lux Typ 114 EVF, aside from a slightly more magnified view (0.74x compared to 0.7x, respectively), but the three-inch articulating screen on the back of the camera does feature a nice bump in resolution compared to the V-Lux Typ 114 (1.24 million pixels compared to 920k pixels, respectively) and is now touch-enabled. - The Leica V-Lux zoom series is joining the big leagues. On Wednesday, July 10, Leica announced the V-Lux 5 advanced zoom camera, stepping the series up from a small 1/2.3-inch sensor to the 1-inch sensor popular among advanced compact cameras. But despite a long list of improvements over the predecessor, the V-Lux 5 sits at a competitive price point, a rarity for the brand known for its luxury cameras. The Leica V-Lux 5 mixes a 20-megapixel, 1-inch sensor with a 16x zoom lens. The lens covers a range equivalent to a 25-400mm lens on a full-frame camera, while offering a bright f/2.8-4 maximum aperture from the widest to the telephoto reaches of the lens. Optical image stabilization is built in to help steady that longer reach. The camera’s versatility extends beyond the zoom range — Leica claims an autofocus as fast as 0.1 seconds. Burst speed sits at a snappy 12 frames per second, or 30 fps if you step the resolution down to 8 megapixels. - shutter art . photography media -
